Since shortly after President Biden took office, NTI was selected to work with the White House Office of Public Engagement on issues facing Americans with disabilities as a national disability office. Michael Hardman, NTI’s Media Relations Specialist, is the nonprofit organization’s representative in the office.

“This has been a great opportunity for NTI’s mission to help Americans with disabilities find work opportunities, and advocate for their issues,” said Alan Hubbard, NTI’s Chief Operating Officer. “We have been able to be involved in several major programs the Biden Administration is focusing on and have been able to connect with members of the White House staff. This gives us an opportunity to advocate for those we help.”

NTI meets weekly with the disability committee, intergovernmental affairs, and faith and community engagement office.

“We appreciate the opportunity that has been given to us,” said Hubbard. “By working with the presidential administration, we get firsthand information on the focus of their policies and how it relates to Americans with disabilities. This allows us the chance to see where we can best help Americans with disabilities and their caregivers.” 

NTI advocates for disability rights, Internet Broadband expansion in rural and underserved areas, easier COVID-10 vaccine access, mental health access, and services for Americans with disabilities, family caregivers, and veterans.
